The Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona GL is known in artistic circles as the “Hotel of the Arts”, due to its owners’ interest in the art world over the years, and especially for having hosted the prestigious New Art show in 1996 and 1997. During the second exposition, in 1997, more than 11,000 people visited the exhibition of the latest art trends from 50 Spanish and foreign galleries. Enjoying notable success among specialist critics, the initiative proposed to bring the art of young creative artists to the general public within the hotel environment.

As a result of this interest, the hotel still exhibits an excellent collection throughout its facilities in which significant historical avant-garde artists are highlighted, such as Tàpies, Saura, Chillida, Guinovart, Cobo, Casamada, and Gerardo Rueda. This collection includes works by recognized figures of the eighties such as Llimes, Lluis Lleó, Miguel Ángel Campano, García Sevilla, and Plensa as well as more recent artists, backed by the most prestigious national and international galleries, such as Anish Kapoor, Richard Long, and Richard Deacon.

As a whole, this extensive collection integrates works from different movements and recognizable styles that await discovery by visitors in every corner of the hotel.
